How does the device work?
First, the user builds the device using the friction-fit components in the kit (No glues or screws required whatsoever). Then, the user installs our app, flips the lighting switches, places the smartphone (or tablet or any display device really) into the projection chamber. Voila! The 3D digital models are now projected into the diorama chamber below and the user is able to view and interact with them! These can be a benign .glb file, an animated .gltf file or even a LLM-powered 'interactive 3D' asset.

The LemurBox design philosophy at its heart aspires to present a fusion of global craftsmanship drenched in the zeal of the DIY-spirit, our humble ode to the timeless allure of hands-on artistry. To us, this is not just a device but also a homage to the beautifully imperfect wabi-sabi aesthetic. Crafted and self-built without needing a single nail, screwdriver, or drop of glue, our design champions the qualia of materials like the bespoke smoked acrylic and the hand-painted MDF (Medium-density fibreboard). The LemurBox has been designed to be a tactile experience, a journey through the fine art of interlocking Japanese joinery, where mortises and tenons come together in a celebration of strength and grace. Every piece is a puzzle, drawing inspiration from the intricate Burr puzzles of the West, the precision of Sashimono, the playful spirit of Kumiki from Japan, and the rich cultural tapestry of Southern India’s Edakoodam and Channapatna Gombe traditions. With each connection, you’re not just building a device, you’re weaving a story of global design philosophies, skillfully curated to enrich your space with a piece that’s uniquely yours.
